The Issue

Dear People of the Internet,

Every day, thousands of Instagram and Facebook accounts are disabled without explanation, leaving users frustrated, helpless, and disconnected. Meta, a company that profits billions from its users, owes us transparency, fairness, and accountability—but instead, we face silence and the broken systems of Meta.

We, the users of Instagram and Facebook, are deeply concerned about the growing number of account disabling incidents, as well as the lack of effective solutions from Meta. Many of us have experienced the same issues repeatedly: accounts disabled without explanation, appeals riddled with errors, and no way to contact real support. This needs to change now!

Here’s What’s Happening:

  1. Unexplained Account Disabling:
Instagram and Facebook disable accounts without providing clear reasons or evidence of policy violations.
  2. Ineffective Appeal Process:
When users attempt to appeal, they are often asked to upload an ID photo. However, the process is frequently broken, with error messages like “Error, please try again later,” leaving users stuck.
  3. Lack of Support and Transparency:
Meta provides no accessible support channels for users to resolve these issues. There is no way to contact a real support team or receive updates on appeal statuses. This lack of accountability leaves users feeling helpless.

What We Demand:

  1. A Functional and Transparent Appeal Process:
Meta must implement a clear, step-by-step appeal process with specific timelines for response and resolution.
  2. Dedicated Support Channels:
Meta should provide accessible support options, such as live chat, email, or a help desk, with response times no longer than 48-72 hours.
  3. Clear Communication:
When accounts are disabled, users should receive detailed explanations of the policy violation, evidence (if applicable), and options to appeal.

Why This Matters:

Small businesses, creators, and communities rely on Meta’s platforms for their livelihoods and communication. When accounts are disabled without clear reason, it disrupts lives and undermines trust in these services. As users, we deserve fair treatment and accountability.

Together, We Can Demand Change:
Meta’s platforms are built on their users. The longer we wait, the more users will lose access to their accounts and communities, so we must act now to demand change!

Let’s make our voices heard and push for the fair treatment we deserve!
