Hold Kings Mountain Police Accountable for Ignoring Drug Dealers

The Issue

My son and his girlfriend were found dead due to fentanyl overdose. The despair I felt upon realizing they overdosed from drugs peddled by a neighbor just  doors down is unfathomable. This deadly menace is not just close to home—it's right next door. The Kings Mountain Police have continuously turned a blind eye on those heartlessly distributing this lethal substance. We cannot stand by and let more lives be extinguished by inaction.

In our close-knit community in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, the presence of drug dealers has become rampant, with disastrous consequences. The rising number of overdoses and drug-related deaths from powerful substances like fentanyl is painting a grim picture in our town. Yet, the police, those we trust to protect us, seem unmoved by this crisis. When our own local law enforcement fails to act, it perpetuates a cycle of violence, addiction, and heartbreak.

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, fentanyl is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine, contributing significantly to the rising number of drug overdoses. In 2020 alone, over 50,000 deaths in the U.S. were linked to synthetic opioids, mainly fentanyl. This epidemic is not just a statistic—it's claiming our loved ones, and inaction from our trusted police force is tantamount to complicity.

It is crucial for the Kings Mountain Police Department to hold drug distributors accountable and to take concrete actions to eliminate this threat from our neighborhoods. We urgently need enhanced security measures, more community patrols, and a dedicated task force aimed at rooting out drug crimes. Furthermore, transparency in reporting and regular progress updates to the public will help rebuild trust and ensure accountability.

Help bring awareness and demand action to save our community from this deadly plight. Sign this petition to call on the Kings Mountain Police to cease looking away from these crimes and start protecting our community with urgency and diligence.
