Hold FridaBaby accountable for their se*ualization of BABIES in their marketing
The Issue
At a time in which child safety is top of mind, FridaBaby, a company that sells baby and postpartum products, is running ads that sexualize babies.
Here are their own words:
- "What happens when you pull out too early," captioning a photo of a baby with snot on their face.
- "How about a quickie?" printed on thermometer packaging.
- "This is the closest your husband’s gonna get to a threesome," captioning a child’s three-in-one thermometer.
- "Yeah, sex is great, but have you ever NoseFrida’d a giant booger that’s been stuck?"
- "Threesome: noun. When your toddler invades the bed…" on their social media.
- "Pull out game: noun. Parent who may or may not pull their weight in SnotSucking duties," on another social media post.
These are not adult products. These are items sold for infants and toddlers. The company must be investigated.
As a first-time mom, I was stunned reading these captions. I had to look twice to make sure I wasn’t misunderstanding. This is a baby brand — one that markets directly to new parents — weaving explicit sexual innuendo into imagery and packaging tied to children. When companies run ads that conjure up images of adults having sex with babies we should all be concerned.
We are calling for an immediate investigation into FridaBaby’s marketing practices by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).
The ASA exists to ensure advertising is legal, decent, honest, and socially responsible. An independent review is critical to determine whether this campaign violates standards meant to protect children and families from harmful or inappropriate content.
Without oversight, companies are incentivized to keep pushing further for clicks, shares, and controversy. As consumers, let’s send a clear message that sexualizing babies is never acceptable — but especially by powerful companies trying to make money off of us.
Sign this petition to demand an ASA investigation into FridaBaby’s marketing practices and to protect children from being used as vehicles for explicit adult humor.
Babies deserve dignity. Parents deserve better.
