Fast fashion is one of the most rapidly growing problems in our modern day world. Fast fashion industry produces enormous amount of clothing in short periods of time, from low-quality materials. They use cheap labor(sweatshops), as well as child labor and other unethical practices in order to spend the least amount of expenses while making as much money as possible, not caring about the damages they’re creating.

The negative effects:

• Gigantic piles of discarded clothing in landfills.
• Millions of tons of CO2-polluting our atmosphere and raising global temperatures.
• Millions of tons of microplastics and fibers contaminating oceans and poisoning food chain.
• Millions of people, mostly young girls and women, even children working in horrible conditions for unlivable wages and facing all kinds of abuses.

How to stop it:

• Enforce the government to make stricter laws.
• Stopping consumer tendencies.
• Hold brands accountable for their actions.
• Support ethical brands.

Some countries have made special programmes to hold fast fashion brands accountable. For example The Netherlands Authority launched investigations for greenwashing, and those found guilty were fined up to €900,000. Also this year France parliament passed Anti-Waste Bill where fashion companies are now prohibited from destroying leftover stock and returned garments, and rather donate it to charity. 
More countries should take this type of an action!!!
