Petition to allow the QUEENS sculpture to stay in MacDonald Park.

Petition to allow the QUEENS sculpture to stay in MacDonald Park.
The Issue
For the past several months, the QUEEN’S sculpture has graced the beautiful MacDonald Park, becoming a beloved fixture of our community. Personally, it has brought me, along with many others, a sense of pride and inspiration each time I pass by. Our community is united in its appreciation of this artwork. While only a handful of us have formally expressed our desire to see the QUEENS sculpture remain, it's time to amplify our voices and ensure our sentiments are heard.
The NYC Parks Department currently requires artworks such as the QUEENS sculpture to be removed by a set date to keep public spaces dynamic and ever-changing. However, given the profound impact this sculpture has had, I urge a reconsideration of these rules. It's not just a piece of art; it's a symbol of our community's identity, strength, and aspirations.
The decision to keep the QUEENS sculpture shouldn't be made behind closed doors. We propose holding a public hearing, allowing every community member to express their feelings and opinions. If community support is strong, we can collectively push the NYC Parks Department and our local Council to consider granting an exception to keep the QUEENS sculpture in its rightful place.
Public hearings provide transparency and allow local voices to influence decisions that impact our daily lives. They bridge the gap between policy and public sentiment, ensuring everyone's perspectives are considered. By signing this petition, you support a fair, open discussion about the QUEENS sculpture's future.
Our goal is clear: organize a public forum where all interested parties, including the Community Board and local Council members, can discuss the continuation of the QUEEN’S sculpture in MacDonald Park. Let's turn our passion for this sculpture into action and work together to preserve our cherished public art.
Sign this petition to support the call for a public hearing, ensuring the QUEENS sculpture remains a beacon of art and community pride for us all.
