Hello Everyone, I am writing this to inform everyone that Hofstra University has agreed with us that the statue of Thomas Jefferson should remain up. I would like to thank each and every one of you for your support, as the sun will shine another day on freedom, Democracy, and the statue of Thomas Jefferson, the man who put those ideals of equality forth in the Declaration of Independece. For those of you seeing this that attend Hofstra (I'm aware not all who signed this petition are currently enrolled) I hope now is a time to begin a healing process on campus. This statue controversy brought a great divide and high tensions, and I believe we must continue to have dialogue with each other to try and understand where we all come from. Everyone has different opinions based off of their own life experiences, and if we can all try and understand each other, it will be a big step toward a healed campus. Once again, thank you for all your support in keeping the statue, Thomas Jefferson will continue to stand tall as a symbol of the freedom and equality we should all strive towards.
