Hoboken Residents Deserve Parking Compensation During Film Shoots and Road Closures
The Issue
We call on the City of Hoboken to provide residents with compensation or parking alternatives when film shoots and city projects remove access to street parking.
As proud Hoboken residents, we understand that film productions and infrastructure projects are part of urban life. However, these activities often result in the removal of multiple blocks of parking, with little to no warning or support for residents who rely on street parking. Despite collecting permit fees from film crews and construction projects, the city has not implemented fair accommodations for the very people who live, work, and pay to be here.
We’re asking the City of Hoboken to:
- Offer discounted or free parking in municipal garages during periods when resident street parking is eliminated due to city-approved events.
- Cap the number of street blocks removed at any one time in densely populated zones.
- Ensure revenue from permits is transparently reinvested into resident services.
The residents of Hoboken deserve to be treated with respect and fairness — especially when the city profits from events that inconvenience its own taxpayers.
