A big THANK YOU to everyone who has signed the petition thus far!  We obtained over 500 signatures in the first 24hours alone!  At last count we are almost to 1000 (with 294+ shares)!  

UPDATE:

Last night we were made aware of a planning board hearing to discuss the current intentions for the North End / Carponiato Group build out (at the former Newport Grand site).  We hastily appeared in front of the board to present this petition.

It turns out that there is another group of concerned Newport citizens who have begun drafting a plan which echoes this exact sentiment! We hope to join forces with this motivated team of urban designers and local planners and share some of their intentions / well-considered issues here - but in the meantime, we have been asked to submit this petition and present to the City Council in the coming weeks!

Because of this, it is more imperative than ever that we acquire as many signatures as we can.  Please help us put this collection of voices into the thousands by sharing with anyone else who you think may be concerned!  

Help tell city council that WE WILL NOT BE IGNORED.
