Thank you so much for signing the petition asking for Mark Driscoll to be un-invited from the Hillsong conferences. Today Hillsong's Brian Houston released a statement saying that after personal interaction with Mark Driscoll he will no longer be going to the Australia or UK Hillsong Conferences! I set up the petition to stand with the many people who have been hurt by Mark Driscoll. To those of you who signed the petition or know people directly impacted by him, I still stand with you as you continue to deal with the pain of his choices. I hope Hillsong's decision brings you some comfort that in this small way Mark is being held accountable for his choices. The media and Brian Houston's statement focus mainly on things Mark said many years ago about women and although they are of great concern, it is his hurtful and abusive actions as a leader that led to this petition being set up. In recent months Mark has used the platforms he has been given to declare himself the victim of the situation and refused to take responsibility for his actions. It is neither loving towards Mark, or those he has hurt, to give him a platform. Thank you to all of you for supporting the petition and sharing it across your networks. I am very grateful to The Junia Project (http://juniaproject.com) for their support and to Megan Ann Jones-Ady and Benjamin Ady for their Hillsong protest which was a catalyst for the Australian media's involvement in the situation. Let us continue speaking truth to power, in Jesus' name, Natalie Collins You can read Brian Houston's statement here: https://hillsong.com/media/statement-from-pastor-brian-houston-hillsong-church/ If you would like to connect with me further, you can do so via www.nataliecollins.info.
