Dear Supporter My 8 year old daughter, kindly offered to write a script for a video about FM Conway but because I was too busy to help her with the wording, I asked her to write about the impact of the asphalt fumes on her life. This is a combination of what she wrote and dictated to me, to type. As an advocate for children's right to play, what she had to say made me feel quite emotional because I’ve never really had an in depth conversation with her about the personal impact of the odour or the petition. FM Conway's defence that the fumes are harmless is open to interpretation. I never really thought about the emotional impact, until this honest conversation with my daughter happened. “It affects everybody. The smell goes around and it makes me feel sick. The smell is revolting. It’s so bad, I don’t know how to describe it. When I come home from school and I can smell it in the car, I would rather be inside than outside. The smell affects nature. If I can smell it, most people can smell it. It ruins trees and if we don’t have trees we can’t survive. It is repulsive. I can’t stand the smell. I don’t like the fumes because I do want to go outside and play and I can’t now, that it is around this area and I feel quite sad, that it goes around and doesn’t let me do the things, that I want to do. When I go out to play, I smell it and I cover my mouth, with my jacket. It doesn’t give me fresh air. It stinks wherever I go. I don’t like it and I hope it goes away soon. It makes me feel upset. I can never feel the same when it hits my face.
