In conversation with a fellow neighbour and parent, they told me the smell of tar was so pungent on arriving to drop off his child at school, on the first day of the autumn term, that parents and teachers were complaining about the smell. He said "a school should be a safe learning environment and it is our responsibility to ensure it remains so. The fumes continued for most of the day, I could smell them on my clothes and had to shut my windows when I returned to my own residence later that afternoon." My neighbour and I and other parents are very concerned about the impact of FM Conway's emissions on children's respiratory health.
