The residents' meeting was well attended, despite the day being the hottest of the year and the absence of air conditioning or a fan in the meeting room! Other than residents, notable attendees were Cllr Anand, Cllr Dhindsa (Southall Green ward) and Ealing council's Director of Safer Communities and Housing, Mark Wiltshire and Vivek Chaudhary, a freelance journalist. There was constructive discussion with welcome input from Mark Wiltshire on strategies that the residents could adopt to move the petition forward. In summary, Mark Wiltshire will draft a letter and e-mail residents for comments. The letter will be from Chief Officer (Ealing) to Chief Officer (Hillingdon) or from Leader (Ealing) to Leader (Hillingdon). The letter will propose that Hillingdon council, the Director of Public Health for Hillingdon and Public Health England meet with residents at a public meeting in approximately 3 weeks time. I will also ask Mark to extend the invitation to Gillian Marston, Director of Environment, Ealing council and their counterpart in Hillingdon. To prepare for this meeting, you may wish to request a copy of: Part B permit Revisions to the permit. Hillingdon council have a legal duty to provide copies if these documents. You can also request copies of public health reports. Mark Wiltshire will press Hillingdon for an invitation, enabling Ealing council to attend the meeting between FM Conway, Hillingdon council and The Environment Agency on Friday 23rd June (not on 22nd June as previously reported). One of the residents is very well connected in the Hayes and Southall communities and it is hoped by networking, that there is the potential to quickly drive the petition to 4 figure signatories but please keep sharing the petition because as an individual, even just one member of your personal network signing, makes an impact.
