Dear Mrs. Clinton: Say No to Indian Point and the AIM pipeline

The Issue

Dear Mrs Clinton,

Before the primary election on April 19th, we have some questions that need answers. Questions about Indian Point and the jumbo fracked gas pipeline project close by.

We are all aware that Indian Point is getting old and has lots of problems. Missing bolts and tritium leaks demonstrate that we are flirting with catastrophe. Spectra Energy’s AIM gas pipeline project will make the aging nuke plant more dangerous and an even more appetizing terrorist target. There is no other nuclear power plant anywhere in the country with a gas pipeline so close. To make matters worse, the Indian Point evacuation plan is a joke, quite frankly.

As our NY Senator, you once publicly stated your were in favor of closing Indian Point. Yet, you have been silent about this issue in recent years.

During one of the debates, you stated that natural gas is a “bridge fuel” to a clean energy future.  These positions make me extremely nervous to support you as a voter.  I am certain that I am not alone.

  1. What is your position on Spectra’s AIM pipeline project?
  2. Where do you stand on the continued operation of Indian Point?
  3. Are you okay with the combo of an aging nuclear power plant so close to a potentially explosive pipeline?

New York voters want to know your answers.

Sincerely,

Dr.Susan Rubin, Chappaqua NY
