Highland Council planners are still pushing their disastrous plan to block off Academy Street to private cars.
They are now holding an event to show people their plans.
Designs will be on display for three days at the Spectrum Centre, 1B Margaret Street, Inverness from 14 March to 16 March.
The public is welcome to attend at the following times:
Tuesday 14 March 1pm to 4pm; Wednesday 15 March 1pm to 7pm; and Thursday 16 March 1pm to 7pm.
From the point of view of planners the scheme is brilliant: it would make it difficult for people to drive - and they seem to hate cars; they would spend a shed load of public money, always looks great on your CV, and they would claim they are saving the world.
In reality cars have been a great boon, improving the ability of people to get about and they are becoming ever more efficient and clean. Almost all businesses in the city centre think the proposals would be damaging. Traffic that currently accesses the city via Academy Street would not be able to get in to the centre. Traffic that uses the route to get through the centre would have to follow other routes, making the Hill District or Harbour Road routes impossible.
If you can get into the Spectrum Centre, please get along and tell officers what you think of their damaging fantasy. This proposal was not consulted on, and was pushed out just hours before the meeting at which councillors allowed it through for "further" consultation.
Please email Highland councillors to tell them what you think of this.
