Higher maternity pay !!!

The Issue

The government needs to support woman more financially after they have a baby by putting up the maternity pay.

It is difficult to survive whilst on maternity leave to pay for bills, rent and expense for yourself.

Child benefits just about covers your baby, bills in the UK have gone higher and higher.

Woman feel shamed to have a baby and have to go back to work early, due to needing the financial support.

A significant number of mothers in the UK are struggling financially, including a quarter who worry about affording their children's needs. This is higher than the proportion of fathers who are struggling.

Financial difficulties

Worrying about finances: 28% of mothers often worry about affording their children's needs

Debt: 45.9% of parents have been in debt or used savings to pay for childcare

Behind on bills: 29% of families are behind on household bills

Behind on rent or mortgage: 10% of families are behind on rent or mortgage payments

Going without food: 15% of families have gone without food when hungry

Factors contributing to financial difficulties

Early years costs: Many parents are unable to work full-time due to early years costs

Cost of living increases: The rising cost of living has negatively affected many families

Lack of support: Some families are struggling due to a lack of support

I myself am currently on maternity leave, and currently my husband is having to work 3 jobs in order for us to survive, which doesn't allow him to spend anytime with his family. This cause a strain on our marriage. It is difficult for us to enjoy life, taking our child out, as we are currently surviving month by month.
