It’s been a hard few months especially for the class of 2020, we’ve had our senior year ripped away and a lot of us will never be able to experience these things. In regards to what Monroe Public Schools has put out about our graduation, a lot of complaints not only from family members but from the class of 2020 itself have come up. The graduation it’s not only last minute but it’s also unfair, a lot of us can’t get off of work, or it’s not enough time for family members to take off work. The two person limit is also very disheartening. As a class we feel as if we should push the date back even just a few weeks to give us a better chance of having somewhat of a normal graduation, or even one that allows for more people, and for us to be better prepared. 

We missed our last year of school. We missed prom, decision day, senior skip day and our graduation. Graduation is supposed to feel like an accomplishment, success and love because your family members are celebrating YOU! Us students at Monroe High School would love to wait until July or August to celebrate our success and accomplishment. We want to be safe but we also want our graduation the way it’s supposed to be with family,cheer and joy! For many this day is special. They have worked to get all A’s or they barely made it through their class, with the only motivation being walking across the stage with family and friends cheering them on. Instead we get a maximum of two people, have to wear masks, and are not given the full amount of recognition we as a class deserve.
