High Park Access (HPA) today launched its new website www.highparkaccess.ca  The website represents the next stage of community opposition to the implementation of the flawed High Park Movement Strategy (HPMS). Previous stages have included:

1) A petition that has gathered more than 32,000 signatures

2) Regular demonstrations at the Bloor Street entrance to High Park

3) Deputations to City of Toronto councillors and committees

4) A freedom of information (FOI) investigation begun in January 2024 across eight divisions and two agencies of the City of Toronto

The new website makes available many reports, presentations and internal emails that demonstrate the bad data, errors, omissions and conflicts that occurred between 2020 and the present and characterize the HPMS. It also provides useful background information for anyone seeking more information on High Park’s history and unique features.

A full version of our press release is attached to this email, as well as a complete statement by the HPA on the past six years' developments.

About High Park Access (HPA):

HPA is a volunteer group of Toronto residents. Our objective is an active High Park accessible to people of all ages and abilities, who undertake a range of activities, come from across the region, and successfully meets the needs of surrounding neighbourhoods and communities for years to come. We want a park that is AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) compliant. We want a park that is accessible to vehicles including cars, bus, WheelTrans, a shuttle, delivery and service trucks, emergency vehicles, all manner of pedestrians and cyclists. We want the City to follow the conditions of the Howard deed and trust. We want to reimagine High Park, make it attractive for future visitors, and start a new conversation about park planning that restores High Park as a cherished piece of Toronto’s public realm.

All of these require that consultations be transparent and implementation of the High Park Movement Strategy stop now.
