Stop Puppy Mills in SC
The Issue
I have worked in the veterinary field for 20+ years. I have seen more than enough abuse. However, to know that I have reported numerous times the puppy mill situation here in Greenwood, Abbeville and surrounding counties to numb ears is sickening. It is time that we become a pet friendly state. Stop the abuse, the dog fighting, and over breeding. Stop puppy mills.
If everyone had to have a dog license for their pets and each pet microchipped, we could run more humane societies as no kill and would know who the dogs that are abandoned belong to. The fines charged could run the humane society in each county. Make the laws stiff enough.
Breeders should have to have special licenses and unannounced inspections. All pets need more than shelter, food and water. A kennel in Abbeville is ran by 2 elderly people. They have over 75+ dogs. There is no way possible for 2 elderly people to give proper care. Another example is a nurse here in Greenwood, says she makes more money off her breeding dogs than in the nursing field. She is going to breed dogs full time. She wanted a price on 100+ rabies shots.
If the state is going to charge taxes on pet supplies etc... it needs to protect the animals. So many breeders get paid by cash and live off of the system. Stop the cruelty!!!
Thanks
