Many people see street dogs as a problem, but they don't see them for what they really are. Voiceless, helpless, innocent creatures. 

I see dozens of street dogs everyday, and I see the cruelty inflicted on them. People throw rocks at them, kick them, and harm them just for the fun of it. I don't see how the minds of such monsters work and I don't care either. I only care about the animals, who are under the mercy of such people. 

We Indians see cows as holy creatures and so, we don't harm them. And this is the kind of treatment all animals should be getting. Including street dogs. 

Today, I saw the corpse of a dog on the road. It was utterly heartbreaking. How much pain it must have felt. How it must have wondered what was happening. How it must have thought what it did to deserve such an end. Poor thing. And this is just what I saw today at a certain place. The amount of such deaths are a lot more. 

Thinking about the mass killing of stray dogs in Kerala really makes me sick. Killing so many innocent lives for what? To protect human beings? Well there was nothing humane about this act. What makes humans so special? Robbing innocent lives for their own comfort? 

Sure, dogs may pose health problems and some people think of them as dirty creatures. But how are humans so different from them then?! I've seen a lot of NGOs helping the poor and needy. They're helping those who have a voice and can fend for themselves, help themselves. Then who will help the voiceless creatures? The ones who are free of greed, hatred, jealousy, the ones who only want and show love, the loyal ones. 

Yes, there are dog shelters, animal NGOs, but are they even enough? Clearly not. What makes humans so much better than them? There are many more NGOs for human welfare as compared to animal welfare. But, dogs have as much right to live on Earth as we, humans do. What are we doing for the Earth? All we do is bring destruction. At least dogs and other animals just live. 

Let there be more dog shelters in India.
