On May 5, 2025 we were told by the Henderson County Planning Department that the ordinance was changed 2 to 3 years ago to make it easier to build a gun range in a residential area.  It allows for a gun range to be built without having to notify the residents in the surrounding area.  The range would be approved as long as it meets the vague technical standards of Article II Zoning District Regulations, Chapter 42-22, Paragraph 4.19.  In my opinion, from a 24 year combat U.S. Army Special Forces Sergeant Major Veteran, the technical standards will not ensure the residents would be safe who live near the proposed range.  It is impossible to build a safe range at this  location. I can say with 100% confidence that either a child or an adult will be hit and potentially killed by a stray bullet one day.
