Save the Trees at Shoop Park

Hello everyone,
I created a page called Save the Trees at Shoop Park. The link doesn’t seem to be working on this page. Please try a search on facebook to find it. Please follow if you like and share with family and friends in Racine and Wind Point. Thank you!
Good news on Thursday evening. There wasn’t a vote in closed session regarding the lease for developers. Here is a summary of the meeting from one of the attendees:
“The Village of Wind Point Board met last night regarding Leasing Lighthouse Grounds for a Parking Lot for the Shoop Park project. Approximately 9 individuals attended in-person and several on Zoom. Seven or eight individuals spoke. Majority were NOT in favor of Leasing the grounds for a parking lot and 2 were neither for or against it. Several felt it should go to a Referendum allowing ALL residents to know & understand what's going on with this and vote on it. One individual recommended the Village obtain legal counsel regarding the wording of the Lease. Apparently there's some ambiguity in it. Most present didn't learn of this meeting until the very last minute.
The common theme with everyone was that it's a Historic Landmark that should be left as it is. It's a peaceful, tranquil & safe place to walk, picnic, enjoy nature & the Lighthouse, take photos, etc. The concerns raised were about increased traffic & safety issues. The pathway was mentioned by all as it's a safe place for everyone, of all abilities, to walk.
One elderly woman simply said a line from a song that came to her mind regarding this, "Pave paradise and put up a parking lot." No truer words were ever spoken.”
Thanks to our contributor who wanted to remain anonymous ♥️
Please continue sharing the petition with family and friends. If you live in Racine or Wind Point, please write to your alderman or alderwoman or the trustees to let them know your thoughts on this project.
Thank you as always ♥️ I’ll try to figure out how to get the link for the Save the Trees page to work!
