Hello everyone, thanks so much for your support!  We are up to 512 people as of today, December 7, 2025.

I’ve been thinking of ways to bring more visibility to our cause.  I’m hoping to resurrect an essay and drawing contest I offered awhile back (1992-2002) for elementary aged kids as an Earth Day activity.  The theme for this upcoming one will be My Dream for Shoop Park.  Because Dr. Shoop gave the land to the people of Racine to be used as a Public Park in Perpetuity, I thought it would be fun to see what kids would come up with if they had the opportunity to design what they would like in a park!  More to come on that!

I’ve been down at the Heritage Museum a couple of times to do research on Shoop Park and learned that the Racine Planning Commission wanted to close down the 6 hole course in 1936 on the east side of the road because of the danger it presented to non golfers.  They also wanted to use labor provided by the Works Progress Administration in order to develop the west side for other recreational activities.  I’m hoping to find more meeting notes about what happened after that.

If you have friends in Racine or Wind Point, please share the petition with them and ask for their support.   I appreciate everyone’s help!

i haven’t heard about any upcoming votes by the Wind Point Board, but I’ll keep you posted!  The above picture was taken at Shoop Park on a beautiful, sunny day a few weeks ago 💙 thanks again and have a wonderful holiday season ♥️
