We, the taxpayers and contributors to the Philippine social and public insurance systems, are fed up with the unchecked greed of our government officials who blatantly malverse the funds. We diligently pay our contributions to Philhealth, Government Service Insurance System and the Social Security System, not to line the pockets of corrupt officials, but to secure our health and future. Yet, we are threatened by disturbing reports of misappropriation within these systems.

In view of the current situation, we call upon relevant authorities to prioritize the probe into Philhealth, the Government Service Insurance System funds, and the Social Security System funds. Together, these systems represent the financial lifeline for millions of Filipinos. Any corruption within these systems could severely destabilize our ability to cope with emergencies and secure our futures. We also cannot ignore the urgent need to scrutinize the alleged mismanagement of our 129 billion worth of gold reserves, a significant national asset.

We firmly believe, in line with the Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index, that any society where corruption is rampant cannot progress. In the 2023 index, our beloved Philippines ranked 115th out of 180 countries, a ranking that we cannot accept if we aspire for growth and development.

This corruption rots away the fabric of our society and integrity of our institutions. We are entitled to a just and fair system wherein our contributions are used for the cause they were intended for. The fight against corruption in our public systems must be of paramount importance to provide us, the people, the assurance we deserve, that our future is in safe hands.
