Hi! I apologise that there has been such a long time since any updates.
My husband & I met with council officers from the Heritage department of Casey Council in November 2018. They explained how the homestead has ended up in its current state.
Basically the previous staff allowed/agreed to the developer handing back the property without any proper development/restoration plan.
Now that Casey council is more invested in heritage conservation the current staff are committed to restoration and rejuvenation.
As you may have noticed a few works were carried out over the summer - Perspex was installed over the broken windows. Also better drainage.
Now we have been invited to get involved.
I have received the following from council:
“Council has brought forward plans to prepare a Masterplan for the site. Once complete, the Masterplan will guide the future use and restoration of the Ercildoune Court Reserve in the Alarah Estate.
The City of Casey is committed to restoring the Ercildoune Court Homestead and Reserve, through balancing the use and activation of this space with its heritage protection. While Ercildoune Court Reserve needs to be restored in keeping with heritage and local land use requirements, we are inviting ideas around how the community could use the facility and surrounding land.
All feedback received from the community will be considered in preparing the options for the site.”
Opportunities to be involved:
Council’s community engagement online platform, Casey Conversations, will provide the following tools to gather feedback:
Online survey
Idea brainstormer
I encourage you to visit: https://www.caseyconversations.com.au/ercildoune-court-reserve-master-plan and add your voice.
There will also be a pop-up where council officer will be in attendance to answer questions and listen to your ideas.
Saturday 24 August, 9.30am – 11.30am, onsite at Ercildoune Court Reserve
