Help us Reinstate and Protect our programs of Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging at UWRF

The Issue

With the recent elimination of the Director position in the Diversity, inclusion, and Belonging (DIB) Program at the University of Wisconsin River Falls (UWRF), we, the students, faculty, and surrounding communities, believe strongly in petitioning and protesting to protect our students and faculty that rely on and use the space and resources this department and Princess provides to our campus. We would like to remind the university of a statement that it made promising to their community, “the University of Wisconsin-River Falls is deeply committed to creating an educational community which enhances student awareness and appreciation of diverse ethnicities and cultures and identities which actively supports tolerance, civility and respect for the rights and sensibilities of each person without regard to economic status, ethnic background, political views, sexual orientation, or other personal characteristics or beliefs.” Inclusiveness is one of the core principles of the university, a principle that is not currently being upheld by eliminating one of the only positions in this department. We are petitioning for UWRF to uphold its own core values and principles by reinstating the DIB Director position.

*UWRF students are working on achieving these goals and would like to add that we are doing this of our own volition. This petition was not organized by anyone other than UWRF students.
