The Issue

For over 30 years, Coach Fred DiCarlo has been a staple in our Eastchester community, school and sports teams.  I have had the privilege and honor of being coached by a truly outstanding mentor, a coach whose dedication, expertise, and love for sports have touched not only my life but the lives of countless others. I have played both football and basketball with Coach Fred for the past 4 years. His around the year dedication to the teams and the players has been humbling. This petition aims to rally support to prevent this remarkable coach from being unjustly fired from being EHS Varsity Basketball Coach. After decades of coaching, he has earned the right to choose when he wants to retire and deserves the respect that should be afforded to anyone who has given so much to his profession and community.

It's important to realize the value he has brought over the years. Having played sports across various teams, I've witnessed firsthand how his unique approach to coaching transforms athletes, not just improving their skills on the field, but teaching life lessons that extend far beyond the game. His leadership instills confidence and character, and his influence has led many young athletes to flourish both in their sports and personal lives.

There are numerous testimonials from parents, athletes, and assistant coaches praising his unparalleled commitment and passion. His teams have not only achieved significant victories but have also demonstrated a level of sportsmanship that reflects the integrity he inspires. He's been more than just a coach; he's a pillar of strength and guidance during tough times for many of us.

The decision to let him go not only disrespects his invaluable contributions but also deprives future generations of his mentorship. Schools, rather than terminating such esteemed individuals, should focus on how to properly honor them. Why remove a foundation stone of success and inspiration? Instead, administration should work collaboratively with him to ensure that his eventual retirement is planned, celebrated, and passes the torch seamlessly to the next generation.

I urge everyone who has been positively impacted by his life’s work to stand with us in solidarity. Let us make it clear to the decision-makers how deeply he is cherished and how crucial it is to bring fairness and dignity to his eventual retirement plans. Sign this petition to keep our beloved coach in his rightful place, and to show that we stand united for fairness, respect, and professionalism.

Thanks for your support. Please attend April 7Th Board of Education meeting to show support!
