Every year, bears are endangered by human encounters. This involves humans who leave trash out, luring the bears toward them. If trash is not stored in bear bins, and food is left in cars, bears are likely to break in. Once bears become too comfortable with humans, they are often euthanized, as they become a danger to everyone. Many people are unaware of the thoughtless harm of leaving food in common places. I don't believe that it is most people's intentions to hurt bears, but without knowledge about bears, it is hard to protect them.
