Over the winter and spring, we've been meeting with government officials to advance the recognition of bicycle mechanics as a distinct occupation in Canada. Just as importantly, this work has brought together people from across the country who are passionate about strengthening bicycle mechanic training, skills development, and professional recognition.

Today, I'm excited to announce the launch of the Canadian Bicycle Industry Skills Coalition (CBISC) / Coalition canadienne des compétences de l'industrie du vélo (CCCIV)—Canada's new national sector council dedicated to strengthening and growing the bicycle mechanic workforce.

CBISC brings together employers, educators, trainers, mechanics, advocates, and industry leaders to address workforce challenges, improve training pathways, and advance recognition of bicycle mechanics as a vital part of Canada's growing green economy.

This is an important milestone, but it's only the beginning. Building a strong national workforce will require collaboration from across the bicycle industry and beyond.
