Help the Students of PHS fire Coach Hinton

Help the Students of PHS fire Coach Hinton
The Issue
I am a student of Coach Hinton, currently teaching AP Human Geography at Prosper High School. My experience has been frustrating and unfulfilling due to the lack of interactive teaching methods, primarily relying on edpuzzles instead of engaging lectures. The quality of education we receive should not be compromised.
AP Human Geography is a college-level course that requires comprehensive understanding and critical thinking skills. According to College Board, it's designed to "develop students' understanding of the world and its complex patterns and processes." However, the current teaching method falls short in achieving this goal.
Edpuzzles can be an effective tool for reinforcing concepts but should not replace direct instruction entirely. A study from Stanford University showed that students who received direct instruction had significantly higher achievement than those who learned through discovery-based methods (Stanford University News).
Prosper High School boasts a 96% graduation rate (US News & World Report), indicating our community's commitment to high-quality education. Yet, if we continue with such passive learning techniques in advanced placement courses like AP Human Geography, we risk undermining our students' potential for academic success.
We call upon the school administration to review Coach Hinton's teaching methods and ensure they align with best practices for delivering rigorous coursework effectively. Let us strive for an educational environment where every student has access to active learning experiences that foster deep understanding and critical thinking skills necessary for college-level courses.
