Petition updateSupport Humboldt County Vaccine MandateAugust 25 Update: No Beds
Scott Q MarcusHumboldt County, Eureka, CA, United States
Aug 25, 2021

Here's how we stand as of August 25, 2021.

The problem in our county continues to grow. Yesterday, Dr. Hoffman, Humboldt County Health Officer, had this to say, "Local hospitals have been inundated with new COVID-19 patients and health care workers are now under “severe distress and duress...Many critically ill residents have been transferred out of the county due to lack of bed space in our local ICUs,” source and remainder of story is here: Lost Coast Outpost

Although we don't have a specific goal, in order to have the type of "clout" we're going to need, we'll need at least a few hundred signatures. (Right now, we're at 172 - up from 135 yesterday at this time. Good for us!)

We must continue to get the word out.

Please share the petition with others via social media, email, and in any way you can. We've had several folks promote this petition via donations to Change.Org and that's helped a lot too. Of course, you can write letters to editors to help let others know and build support. Even if we totally exceeded the number of signatures we would like, it still has to get passed by the Supes and there will be fierce resistance. Letting the public know what's going on NOW will help later.

I have purchased some advertising in the Lost Coast "Classyfieds" and we have a petition recommended by the Northcoast Journal at care2. I would prefer not to have two competing competitions but that's the way that one works. I also heard back from Kym Kemp (RedheadedBlackbet.com) and she asked me to write a Letter to the Editor, which I did. (As of this moment, it has not been published but there is a referral to our petition in the comments about the anti-vax protest that took place last weekend.)

Finally, I heard from another one of the Supes yesterday who seems interested in helping. I will be in contact with them, per their request to see what we can do.

As you know, this won't just "go away" or "get better" and, as scary as it all is, there is no guarantee it won't continue to get way worse. We must continue to get the message out.

Thank you for helping make our community safer. I'm sure the majority of folks agree with us; we must simply let them know what's going on.
