There is currently an area of greenspace buffering onto our Baldwin Swamp Environmental Park… Bundaberg Regional Council is looking at gazetting it for over 100 sections of low cost housing.

Landcare management have been quoted as fighting to preserve this site for the environment for decades. They only wish it was handed over for the environment as easily as the council are planning to do for no cost development.

We are aware and agree that additional housing is needed in the Bundaberg region… but not at the expense of one of the last few remaining green areas in the city.

This means destruction of trees.. displacement of wildlife… loss of additional nature walking and cycling tracks… and a threat to Baldwin Swap Environmental Park which it backs onto…

We, the undersigned… suggest the Council and Regional Housing Ltd reconsider…
