For almost 50 years, the Erickson and District Recreation Centre has been a cornerstone of our community in large part due to the cooperative and supportive relationship between the Municipality and the Erickson and District Recreation Association (EDRA). Unfortunately, this relationship has changed significantly in the past two years, and this is placing the future of the building in serious jeopardy. Our ice plant is nearing 50 years old and needs replacement. It has required several repairs and is at risk of failing at any time. It will not be possible for the EDRA to replace the plant without accessing government grants. Evidence of municipal financial support is an important consideration in securing grant funding.

We, the undersigned, feel strongly as taxpayers that it is important to maintain the recreation facilities in our community. We request that the council of the RM Clanwilliam-Erickson designate funds in the next municipal budget to support the Recreation Centre Ice Plant Replacement project.
