Commissioner Letters to INDOT and state officials have been sent!

Hello friends, I want to give you an update on saving our big blue bridge! As of this writing, we have around 1500 signatures and growing every day! We had a Successful Meeting with the Jay Co. Commissioners!!! I presented all of your signatures/ comments and a heartfelt request for their help. I was able to clearly show how the big blue bridge is a Well Loved Local Landmark that people greatly enjoy and that we weren't given proper opportunity from INDOT to voice our thoughts about our big blue bridge! They Want to Help us Save Our Bridge! They offered to draft letters to INDOT and state officials to explain our grievances about the lack of proper communication with the public and how we weren't given proper notice of opportunity to comment about our bridge. Those letters were sent out on Friday! Thank You for your encouragement and overwhelming positive responses. Most everyone I spoke with had no idea the bridge was about to be removed. Seeing the determination and outpouring of support is what inspires me and a few helpers to keep going on this uphill road. THIS IS THE LAST PARKER TRUSS BRIDGE IN OUR COUNTY. Our community takes great pride in this bridge. We just didn’t realize we were about to lose it. It’s a local landmark that distinguishes us from other communities. Our bridge adds beauty and charm to our community. People genuinely enjoy seeing it and take pride in it as it welcomes people to Portland. Our goal is to inspire you to work with us to help us save a special part of our community. We are asking our whole community to pull together and help us TRY to save a special landmark in our community. We need the full support of our city leaders and our county leaders. Please call or write a note to compel them to take action.
