Help Save the 46A Bus!

The Issue

We want your help to save Dublin's 46A bus route.  Why?

It’s a great service:

The 46A runs from Infirmary Road, Phoenix Park to Dún Laoghaire train station every 7-15 minutes, depending on when you travel. It starts around 6am. A single ticket costs only €2 or €2.60 (adult fare).

If you want to get to work, college (TCD, UCD or IADT), city centre shops, Lansdowne Road for a match, Dublin Zoo, or the Phoenix Park this is your bus.

Millions of people use it:

Over 5 million passengers will use this route in 2024. These are Dublin Bus figures.  The 46A route is the fourth-busiest line operated by Dublin Bus.

Why scrap a service that 14,000 people use every day?

It reduces our carbon footprint:

Think about it. Five million passengers on the 46A are not sitting in cars, creating traffic jams and emissions. They are choosing a stress-free, green travel option.  If the 46A route ends lots of people will have to take two buses, not one. Many will use their car instead.

It already 'Connects' us:

The 46A bus route symbolizes Dublin's commitment to sustainable living. Plus, it connects the north and south parts of Dublin city. It serves a diverse community of young and elderly passengers, from all walks of life. College students, workers, parents, children and seniors.

Scrapping it makes no sense, at all:

Many users don’t even know the service is being discontinued.  They – perhaps you –  will have to replan travel journeys after Christmas. This will cause stress and inconvenience to thousands of people a day| That’s simply crazy.

Dublin needs the 46A bus route - for its residents, the environment, and the city's special identity. Let's work together to ensure this invaluable service continues in 2025.

Sign this petition to ask the National Transport Authority (NTA) to keep the iconic 46A bus route running from the Phoenix Park to Dún Laoghaire.

Let’s keep building communities and doing our bit to protect the planet.  WE NEED YOUR HELP! Please sign now then share the link with family, friends and co-workers.

REMEMBER; If you do nothing, this route will stop in early January.
