HELP SAVE AIMEE'S DOGS FROM AN UNJUST EXECUTION!

URGENT UPDATE: HEARTBREAKING DISCOVERY

After months of relentless fighting, Aimeé was finally allowed to see her beloved dogs. What she found was devastating. Faustino’s once vibrant yellow coat has turned white, and all three—Uma, Sukha, and Faustino—are severely malnourished and infested with ticks. Due to the deplorable conditions of their current environment, they have contracted serious tick-borne infectious diseases.

All three dogs have tested positive for anaplasmosis and ehrlichiosis, and, tragically, Uma has also contracted canine distemper virus (CDV). Uma is in critical condition, hospitalised with a very slim chance of survival. She is extremely weak, refusing to eat, and has required multiple transfusions just to stay alive. Despite ongoing medical interventions, her condition continues to deteriorate.

Today, Aimeé has been desperately requesting information about Uma’s health, but the facility has refused to provide any updates. This lack of transparency is deeply alarming and raises serious concerns about the care Uma and the other dogs are receiving.

This horrific situation is a direct result of the neglect by those responsible for their care. Tick-borne infections like ehrlichiosis and anaplasmosis could have been prevented, as could the distemper virus. Tick infestations pose a significant health risk not only to the dogs but also to humans, including the facility’s staff, who may develop serious conditions such as Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis, or anaplasmosis, with the same severity as seen in animals.

We urgently call on everyone to continue sharing this petition and demand that Honourable Judge David Gonzales III return Aimeé’s remaining two dogs and put an end to this horrific neglect and mistreatment.

What happened?

On 5th August, the authorities in Cameron County, Texas, confiscated one of Aimee Tovar's dogs. Two days later, on 7th August, they returned to her home and seized the other two. Despite no conclusive evidence that her dogs caused any harm, they have been accused of biting someone. Now, all three dogs face a death sentence.

These dogs, whom Aimee has lovingly raised since they were puppies, are peaceful, well-balanced, and non-aggressive. However, the authorities, including the Honorable Judge Jesús T. "Chuy" García, have decided to proceed with their execution.

What’s at stake?

The trial, initially scheduled for 24th September, has now been moved to 22nd October, which adds an additional financial burden on Aimee. Each day, she is charged $30 for the care of her dogs while they remain confined. Aimee, who has limited financial resources, is struggling to keep up with these costs.

The dogs have already completed the mandatory quarantine period without incident, yet their lives still hang in the balance. If action is not taken immediately, these dogs could be euthanised.

City officials have attempted to intimidate Aimee, discouraging her from seeking help. On the day the dogs were seized, they made her to sign documents in English, knowing she doesn’t speak the language, and falsely assured her that the dogs would be returned. Instead, they have been kept in confinement, awaiting execution.

Why must we act now?
Aimee's dogs are facing an unjust and irreversible fate. Their new trial date is set for 22nd October, and without intervention, these innocent animals could be lost forever. The time to act is now, before it’s too late. The authorities must be held accountable for respecting animal rights, due process, and justice.

Aimee urgently needs your support to stop this injustice. We request the following:

  1. That the euthanasia order be cancelled and Aimee's dogs returned to her. Now that the case is in the hands of the Honorable Judge David Gonzales III of the Cameron County Court At Law No. 3, the euthanasia order must be revoked, and the dogs must be returned to Aimee’s care, as they have already completed the quarantine period without further incident.
  2. That clear evidence be presented and a thorough investigation conducted. We demand that the authorities provide concrete and compelling evidence, such as videos, or photos that demonstrate the dogs' involvement in the alleged incident. A fair and thorough investigation must be conducted before any irreversible actions are taken.
  3. That the laws and rights of animals be upheld. We call on the Cameron County authorities, including the Director of Public Health, Gustavo Olivares, and Animal Control Supervisor, Joshua Cruz, to act in accordance with state and local laws, ensuring the dogs are treated fairly and with dignity throughout the legal process.
  4. That the Honourable Judge David Gonzales III make decisions with an intercultural and human rights perspective. This case is marked by clear acts of discrimination and abuse of power. Aimee was made to sign documents in a language she didn’t understand, exploiting her language barrier, which is a form of discrimination.

We urge Cameron County Public Health, Justice of the Peace Pct. 3-1, Cameron County Animal Control, and the Cameron County Court At Law No. 3 to act immediately to prevent this injustice and ensure that the law is upheld.

LET'S NOT ALLOW THIS CASE TO END IN IMPUNITY. WITHOUT A PROPER INVESTIGATION, JUSTICE CANNOT BE ACHIEVED. HELP SAVE AIMEE'S DOGS NOW!
