Help Rob Skate Academy Provide After School Enrichment Programs For MDUSD!

The Issue

MDUSD PARENTS PLEASE READ

If you are a parent with children attending school within the Mt. Diablo Unified School District, please consider reading and signing this petition!

Rob Skate Academy has been active in serving the East Bay community for the better part of two decades, instilling our youth with mindfulness through skateboarding! And with the opening of our new indoor training facility at the Sunvalley Mall, we have begun offering our services to local schools. Our services include after-school enrichment programming geared toward beginner skateboarders! During these programs we focus on skateboarding safety, culture, and most of all, cool tricks! Providing amazing programs is what we do best! We have been partnered with the Hayward, San Leandro, and Oakland Unified School Districts for nearly 3 years now, serving 30+ schools yearly!

As our organization has expanded to the Concord/Pleasant Hill area over the last year, we have begun working and providing services for both Strandwood and Sequoia elementary, as well as receiving requests from several others including Valhalla Elementary. And only now, after a full year do we come to find out that the MDUSD has a long standing policy discriminating against action sports programs such as ours. Going forward, we will no longer be approved for permitting to operate on any MDUSD campuses. A tragedy in our eyes, as we have witnessed the many physical and mental benefits to such programming first hand!

This is where you come in! We're hoping to collect a minimum of 100 MDUSD parent signatures to present to the board during their coming meetings. And hopefully with your help, we can appeal the board to amend their pre-existing rules and allow skateboarding as an option for after-school enrichment!

Thank you for reading, if your children have enjoyed one of our programs in the past, please reach out to Nate@robskate.com with your first hand experience with us. Or, If you'd like to get further involved, the MDUSD board will be hosting a meeting on December 11th, visit the MDUSD website for more info. We'd love to see you there! Thank you all, we very much look forward to serving you in the future!
