In the heart of Texas Hill Country, families are grieving loved ones—and clinging to the only pieces they have left: their pets. As floodwaters swept away homes, lives, and entire communities, nonprofit groups like Austin Pets Alive! rushed into action. They’ve already rescued over 230 animals and are working tirelessly to reunite lost pets with grieving families, many of whom have nothing left.

But their work is far from over. The heartbreaking reality is that many pets are still out there—missing, injured, or left behind. Survivors like Superman, a dog pulled from debris and eventually reunited with his family, represent hope. Yet countless others still need help.

Austin Pets Alive! is doing everything they can: searching through wreckage, offering body recovery and cremation services for lost pets, and supporting heartbroken families. But they can’t do it alone.

We urge local and state officials, emergency management agencies, and the broader public to ensure sustained funding and resources for animal rescue, reunification, and long-term care in flood-impacted Texas communities. These animals matter—and so do the people who love them.
