Help Protect Wildlife along Ballan Egerton Rd

Help Protect Wildlife along Ballan Egerton Rd
The issue
I am the owner and resident of a property on Ballan Egerton Rd Mount Egerton. I wish to propose to Moorabool Shire Council, speed zone reductions along Ballan Egerton Road in the interest of vehicle/resident and wildlife safety. I have set out my rationale for this in point form.
As per my map below the current 80 KPH zone should be reduced to a 60 KPH zone (red line) as:
· Motorists frequently speed along this area making it dangerous for residents to access and egress their driveways. I have frequently been verbally abused by drivers behind me as I slow down to enter my driveway.
· There is a concentration of native wildlife along this stretch including Kangaroos and Echidnas which are frequently killed due to excessive speed of many vehicles.
· I have nearly been rear ended several times in this area (as I slow to avoid the wildlife) , by aggressive speeding drivers who are travelling too fast and too close to the vehicle in front, leaving little room to stop. I have also been verbally abused by these drivers for slowing down to avoid wildlife.
· Even when I am driving at 80KPH, I have been dangerously overtaken by vehicles in this area who are excessively speeding. I feel it is only a matter of time before a tragic accident occurs if traffic isn’t slowed.
· A concerned resident (not myself) has already put up a sign at the eastern 80 KPH, warning west bound drivers to slow down due to resident driveways.
As per my map below there should be an introduction of an 80 KPH zone (yellow line) as:
· This is an area that is frequented by wildlife, especially The Black Faced Swamp Wallaby who exist around the bridge. There are often dead Wallabies in this area caused by vehicles travelling at excessive speed
· I have nearly been rear ended by vehicles in this area as I slow to avoid the wildlife, by aggressive speeding drivers who are travelling too fast and too close to the vehicle in front, leaving little room to stop. I have also been verbally abused by these drivers for slowing down to avoid wildlife
· The road is often prone to heavy fog and the current 100 KPH speed limit is dangerous around this winding part of the road.
· The standard of the road surface is not wide or safe enough for vehicles to be travelling along this stretch at 100 KPH
I propose the remainder of the road stay at 100KPH (green line)
