Sri Siva Subramanyar Kovil is one of the oldest temples in Mauritius and it has a legacy for more than 140 years since its existence. It is found at Beau Sejour Piton, in the district of Riviere Du Rempart. It forms a part of the rich cultural and emotional heritage from our ancestors, and it provides distinct religious contributions to the society.

However, this cherished landmark is under threat for demolition. Losing this temple would mean erasing a piece of Mauritian history, an irreplaceable link to our past and a crucial element of our community’s identity.

We urge the authorities in Riviere Du Rempart and Mauritius at large to act decisively to protect Sri Siva Subramanyar Kovil. This includes enforcing strict regulations to halt any developments that threaten its existence and ensuring that the temple and its surrounding environment are preserved with the same devotion and reverence that has sustained it for over a century.

Our cultural and religious sentiments are woven deeply into this sacred site, and its preservation is pivotal for us and future generations.
