Help Patriot Park get a crosswalk!

Help Patriot Park get a crosswalk!
The Issue
Numerous children and families cross 400 South every day between School House Rd and Patriot Park without a crosswalk in place. This situation has led to multiple close calls, including one where my own son narrowly avoided getting run over a couple of weeks ago. The current scenario obligates some drivers to stop, even when not required, to allow children and families to pass; while other drivers in other lanes rush by unaware or unprepared to stop. This leads many to believe it is safe to cross when it is not.
Expecting residents, especially young children, to walk an entire block to the end of the street just to cross safely is impractical and unrealistic. Most simply don't do it and never have. The lack of a crosswalk has left children and other pedestrians vulnerable to accidents and has become a growing safety concern for the Legacy Farms community, and for all Saratoga Springs residents traveling up and down this road.
A sensible solution would be the installation of a crosswalk with flashing lights for this busy intersection (similar to 3 other well positioned crosswalks along Saratoga Road). This would offer a safe crossing point for our kids and residents, reduce the number of close calls, and likely prevent future accidents. All members of our community would benefit and feel more comfortable knowing there is a legitimate crossing point to get to this large community park.
A well-placed crosswalk is a fundamental aspect of community infrastructure and is particularly important in areas near parks and schools, where children's safety should be of utmost priority.
If you want to make 400 South a safer place for everyone in Saratoga Springs, you can do so by supporting the installation of this crosswalk. Please sign this petition to band together as a community to urge the Saratoga Springs city officials to take action to better protect the children and families of our community. Thank you for your support!
