The New Year is upon us, and we want to draw your attention to the plight cats have to endure in China. Many are still brutally killed for food and fur, but there is something worse. There is a growing trend of men ( many teenagers) who are stealing cats and catching strays to cruelly torture and video the abuse. They then post the horrific act in private groups where other sick individuals bid for more torture to occur. Groups everywhere are calling for this to end, but it has been hard to trace the individuals who hide behind VPNs and fake names.
Recently, our China team intercepted a small truck from a dog dealer we have had many run-ins with, and we managed to save a cat who had been subjected to the most vile abuse. Lucy's jaw was broken, and the monster had detached the retina from the eyes. And if that wasn't enough, he threw her in the garbage to be scooped up by a dealer who was sending her for slaughter.
She is safe with us now and is undergoing major surgery to save her life. Sadly, even if she makes it, she will be blind. And a blind cat has no chance in a country like China. We will do all we can to care for her in the hope she can survive, and we are asking if you can help us with a donation, however small, to pay for her medical treatment and care.
