Help our son-4 yr. Blue Cross Blue Shield Texas Denying ALL with trach nursing hours.

Help our son-4 yr. Blue Cross Blue Shield Texas Denying ALL with trach nursing hours.
The Issue
- Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas HealthSelect denied the appeal for half of our son nursing hours. You can see in the picture the trach coming out of a hole in his throat to breathe. Our son's life is not worth it to BCBSTX to keep him alive. It interferes with their profit margins, bonuses, or vacations.
These big insurance companies in Texas pass the buck to Medicaid. They know that Medicaid will take over when they won't. A child lost his life because medicaid reduced his nursing hours. His family sued Medicaid and won. Why should the taxpayers have to pay for our son's nursing care when our son has insurance through BCBSTX that we pay premiums for every month through our employment.
Our son plays with his toys, knows his colors and numbers, and panics when his trach comes out before he passes out if not put back in the hole in his throat in enough time. He has never given up and has accomplished so much and still does everyday.
He was born1 lb 6 oz at 24 weeks gestation. He is now 4 yrs old over 30 lbs. He had grade 2 brain bleeds after he was born. We don't know the amount of brain damage he has, will he walk, will he talk, etc. Most people have no idea what it is like to see your son be blue, no heart beat and not breathing and to loose you baby at 6.5 weeks from heart defects.
Having already lost our daughter Ava and reviving our son with the trach by doing CPR is not enough for bcbs HealthSelect to see we are very involved parents. BCBSTX believes it is custodial care. That's a person who changes diapers and clothes as the same level as a specially trained trach nurse. They think we should find someone off the streets without a license to train to change a trach, notice the trach is out, know the different breath sounds, train to suction properly, perform CPR on a trach child, etc. Or BCBSTX healthselect believes we should have to quit our jobs as public servants (teacher and employee of the state) in order to provide the health care ourselves for our son.

Please let your representatives, senators, news stations, BCBSTX healthselect and their investors know our 4 year son with a trach life is worth it and to give him the 24 hr a day nursing care hours back. He has had nursing care 24 hrs a day from October 15, 2018 to December 21, 2021.
This is the 2nd year in a row they have denied half his hours at Christmas and I have to spend months trying to get it appealed and approved. It hurts us even more because our daughter who passed away was born on Christmas.
Please help us by calling etc to let Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas HealthSelect know our son life and other trach children's are worth saving. You can PM/IM for phone numbers. We appreciate your help along with prayers to get BCBSTX healthselect to approve all his nursing hours and get legislation that requires these commercial insurance companies to cover skilled nursing hours for all children with trach. Let them know our children are worth keeping alive and should not pass the buck to medicaid when we have jobs, have insurance, and pay our premiums. #teamluke
