If any one of you have read the report from the AGA which states we pay 5 times more in insurance premiums than anyone else, then you may have noticed a slight flaw in the details.... The excessive rates we pay have been justified on the basis we have more claims than everywhere else. However, no claims due to floods (including the 2011 Brisbane flood) or bush fires have been included in the total claims!! Leaving out flood claims does slightly colour the results. The reason given to me by Mr Martin is that: "Yes it was excluded from this list because not all (strata) policies cover flood while all policies will cover the other perils". Surprising to find policies in Melbourne and Adelaide cover cyclone damage.
