The Committee recommended that the Australian Government investigate and report on the expansion of the Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation created to provide terrorist risk reinsurance (after 9/11) for application to residential strata title schemes. And the Government's response was: The Government does not support this recommendation as it would not lead to a reduction in insurance premiums. Seeing as Wayne Swan has just taken $400M from it to help his budget, this is hardly surprising.
