Northern Australia Insurance Inquiry Update Report – June 2018 The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has today released a short update report on our Northern Australia Insurance Inquiry. The report is published on our website at www.accc.gov.au/insurance. If you are one of the many local residents, property owners or organisations who participated in one of our forums in northern Australia, responded to our online questionnaire or to our issues paper, thank you. The views and experiences that you shared have contributed to this report. The report contains preliminary observations about northern Australian home, contents and strata insurance markets drawn from our public consultation and information gathered from insurers. It also outlines the current focus of the inquiry. We will provide a further report to the Treasurer by 30 November 2018. This report will consider prices, costs and profits in more detail, and make some initial recommendations to government and industry about what we see as any opportunities for improvements in these markets.
