I went to the ACCC Insurance Inquiry in Townsville last week. I think the ACCC got quite an eye-opener, and were shocked at the information presented by the people present. Everyone had something to say, and what everyone said was worthwhile, some even suggested solutions. This was followed the next day by their visit to Cairns where I think they found a very similar situation and are beginning to grasp the extent of our misery and fight. In Townsville, the elected State and Federal Members were conspicuous by their absence. I don’t know about Cairns. Bob Katter did turn up with one of his candidates but that was it!! Where was our Minister assisting the Premier for North Queensland? Where were the other elected members? Do they not care? I know they knew about the forum as I had told them, maybe there was something more important on. The media was also missing. I understand the ACCC have received 80 submissions already. We need to make this 800+. So if you can tell someone else about it, or you live in a strata building and can let all owners know, it can only benefit us. Let’s show them we have had a problem, we do have a problem and it’s only getting worse – no matter what the Insurance Council of Australia may tell them.
