This really is the last update as there’s absolutely no chance of maintaining any hope that Mount Tabor Park will be spared.

The developer was always going to win via backroom county deals from previous Commission Boards, and a willingness by the current Board to quickly capitulate to threats.

A very unique public park has been sacrificed at the expense of the citizens, and to only be replaced by what?  Some pickle ball courts?  Some expensive center?  

It’s also part of a pattern of how development goes in this county.  Multiple subdivisions are under construction that have zero amenities- not the first swing set or pavilion, slide or jungle gym- absolutely nothing is required of developers.  This furthers the need for places like Mount Tabor Park and creates more pressure on those few remaining places where citizens can enjoy a quiet walk in the woods.

And believe it or not, your tax dollars are now being used to make design and engineering changes to Mount Tabor due to the road gash through the woods leading to the Riverwood subdivision.  Have a look at the upcoming Board of Commissioners meeting agenda and you will see a line item for $116,322.50.  Amazing isn’t it?  The destruction of our park is now being financed by us.

Once again, and for a final time, I would like to say thanks to everyone who participated in our petition.  The long list of your names was given to the high and mighty of Paulding County, hopeful meetings were had, practical and sensible thinking was presented many times along the way and all to no avail.
