Help make Navarre safer by making it more pedestrian & bike friendly.
The Issue
As Navarre grows and develops, a pressing set of issues needs to be addressed: accessibility, walkability, bike-ability, and most of all, safety . The only viable way to get around Navarre is with a car, and whoever chooses otherwise risks their life daily just to go to their local businesses. There is so much traffic and death alongside US 98 and other roadways in Navarre. We are tired of the traffic and death plaguing our area. We deserve better. So, with this petition, I want to make it known to our county government that Navarre needs safer bike lanes, more pedestrian access, and other alternates to get around. So many communities lack access to places just across the road as bloody 98 sees no solution implemented.
We demand safer roadways, more sidewalks around Navarre, pedestrian islands, protected bike lanes, and infrastructure to provide viable alternates to driving that are safe to alleviate traffic, support our economy, support our locals, and make Navarre a better place to live.

Key proposals I have:
An extension of the asphalt multimodal pathway that ends at Tiger Point Walmart into Navarre and at least until the bridge, there is a wide shoulder and space to accommodate it on East 98; this would connect residential areas to our local businesses and our lovely beaches and would be PROTECTED and SEPARATED from 98 to reduce crash risk (I often see cyclists using the unsafe narrow lanes on 98 and people walking on the shoulder because they have no other option). Furthermore, beautiful greenery and future development could make this corridor more desire-able and safer.
The support of The Navarre Community Access Road to reduce traffic on 98 with an alternative route and providing safer multi-modal access for pedestrians, cyclists, and emergency vehicles
The creation of more access roads as many neighborhoods only connect into 98, creating roadway bottlenecks, especially in times of crisis with only one way in and out of subdivisions.
More sidewalks and pedestrian/biking infrastructure for Soundside High to connect it to the neighborhoods segregated and disadvantaged by US 98 (I believe a pedestrian overpass would be best here but as for now I am not advocating for that as we do not have a local government, it would require a lot of money we do not have, numerous parties to sign off on it, and large upkeep costs).
More turn lanes for 98 and East Bay boulevard for places lacking one and for East Bay boulevard, more pedestrian caution signals like the one for the Edgewood intersection
A revamp of the intersection for the bridge to make it friendlier and safer for pedestrians (I often see locals and tourists walk across it as they have no choice)
That is my proposals so far, please voice your concerns about certain areas or my proposals so that I can better advocate for what is needed in Navarre.
