Doctors of the World USA is a non-profit organization that is part of the global Médecins du Monde network. It provides emergency and long‐term medical care to vulnerable people, while fighting for equal access to healthcare worldwide. Founded in France in 1980, the network operates 350 programs in 79 countries, including the United States.

As part of these 79 programs, Doctors Of The World is working tirelessly in West Africa to prevent the spread of Ebola. In Liberia, we train Ebola health workers and support 5 health centers. In Sierra Leone, we treat Ebola patients deep in the country’s interior. And in Mali and Ivory Coast, we are preparing communities to prevent Ebola's spread.

Thanks to workers from organizations like ours, thousands upon thousands of lives have been saved.

However, in order to beat Ebola for good, we need to extinguish every last case. The only way to make this goal real is by supporting the Ebola healthcare worker and raising awareness about the disease.

Unfortunately, due to the remote nature of many areas affected by Ebola, a lot of these healthcare workers’ heroic efforts have gone unseen, and are relatively unpublicized in the western world.

As one of the organizations on the ground, we want to ensure that Ebola healthcare workers receive the credit they deserve, and that the seriousness of the situation is communicated to everyone.

That’s why we’re asking Time Magazine to make the Ebola Healthcare Worker their person of the year for 2014. In our opinion these workers have been the bravest, most selfless people of the year.

Please sign this petition and help us achieve our goal. Perhaps at the same time, we’ll help raise the awareness needed to finally put an end to this deadly outbreak.
