If you would like to assist Lorraine with her mounting legal bills; you can do so at the following link:    https://www.gofundme.com

Lorraine Poulin has passed all the requirements as a (kinship) foster home but Nova Scotia Department of Community Services (DCS) is saying that; after living with her grandmother for almost 2 years that they will soon take her little granddaughter and put her up for adoption; and that Lorraine has not met requirements through the adoption process.

Please let me explain a kinship foster home...it's now the same as a foster home with the exception that the children you are caring for are either a family member or you are a close family friend or another caregiver....a teacher or neighbor may fall into this category.

The approval process is quiet lengthy and is very similar to the adoption process (a medical is one of the main differences) however the adoption application is handled buy a different department within DCS.

Although most believe that DCS has the ultimate say in all of this; they do not.  A family court judge can overturn the Departments decision; which is what we are fighting for in this case. The courts can also grant custody to Lorraine (instead of Adoption) but DCS has not presented this as an option.  Lorraine is open to anything that sees her granddaughter remaining in her care.

It is statistically proven that Lorraine's granddaughter will have a better chance of developing into a healthy and successful adult if she is raised by a close family member verses being bounced around in the foster care system.

The chance of adoption decreases for children after their second birthday.  Given Lorraine's granddaughter's age (she's 7); she will more than likely call one of the foster or group care facilities home until she reaches the age of 19.

With your help, we are hoping to let DCS and the Judge know how much support Lorraine and her little granddaughter has.  We also want to make sure that no other child is faced with being ripped out of their forever home…ADOPTION IS AN OPTION!

Thank you for supporting Children's Rights and helping to keep a little girl with her family!
